Staring Into the Eyes of Chance
by Kay Dee Royal

Muse It Hot Publishing
Releasing March 2012
Book one in the LIIA Series (Lycan International Investigation Agency)
Featuring Werewolves, Paranormal Abilities, Explicit Love Scenes

Kay Dee Royal – Staring Into the Eyes of Chance ~ an Intro to Chance & Olivia for The Book Nerd Revealed 5-20-12

Hello and thank you, Book Nerd Revealed and everyone who loves this place. I’m Kay Dee Royal, author of Staring Into the Eyes of Chance, Book 1 of the LIIA series (Lycan International Investigation Agency) a paranormal erotica romance series with wild furry heroes and heroines toting exceptional abilities that some may consider gifts. AND, it contains some very explicit, sizzling hot, love scenes.

This is an excellent opportunity to introduce the SITEOC story-stars Chance & Olivia and tell a bit about them and their story.

Olivia, a fifty-five year old widower, grew up with the ability to “read” animals, similar to a psychic. She can intuit an animal’s energy, feeling their moods. Because of her natural way with wildlife, Olivia opened a wildlife rescue and preserve. It kept her occupied while her husband, Ray, traveled during most of their thirty-four year marriage and she continued with it after his death.

Ray’s life-long philandering came to the surface at his funeral. Olivia swore never to trust a man again. Feeling cheated of passion and no children made her whole life with Ray a lie.

Chance, a three hundred year old Lycan Alpha, leads a pack of Lycan International Investigation agents. He comes with his own personal abilities, as in having visions of the near future. No way for him to control the times a premonition occurred, but he figured out ways to change the endings if it was something needing modified or alleviated.

His mother died in his childbirth and his father, alpha of their pack, became a shell of a man without his mate. Chance watched his father dwindle away and then lost him in an accident. His older brother died close to the same time, which left Chance as the Alpha.

He never took time to look for a mate, not wanting to go through losing someone again, besides the pack and the agency kept him busy enough not to miss being tied to another.

Their work brings them together – Chance as LIIA tracks a rogue Lycan to Olivia’s wildlife preserve.

When Chance and Olivia meet, neither are prepared for what happens…nor are they happy about it, but then, some things simply can’t be denied.

Staring Into the Eyes of Chance (1st Book of the LIIA series ~ Lycan International Investigation Agency)

Genre: Paranormal Erotica Romance (Must be 18 or over, explicit love scenes)

Short Excerpt:

Where the hell is it?

Sharp prickles raced up Olivia’s spine as the deepest, longest, eeriest wolf howl she ever heard echoed through the forest. Her body froze and her fingers clung white-knuckled around the tranq rifle. A longer ominous howl answered. It came from the back side of the barn. She took a deep breath, stood up with gun ready, rounded the corner, and ran the length of the barn. Olivia paused for another breath before dashing around to the backside of the structure.

Nothing.

She stepped away from the building, intent on walking her yard perimeter, head pivoting in all directions, scanning the short grass and fallen leaves. Movement to her right alerted her too late as she pivoted toward the motion.

“Oomph!” She took a hit, like a truck slammed into her front side. A flurry of black and silver fur, claws, and teeth. She fell flat on her back, her head bouncing off the ground. The rifle flew from her grasp. No footfalls, no heavy breathing, but a pungent scent of musty dog fur lingered in the air. Olivia lay there, afraid to move, afraid the wolf had just called in his pack.

She Speaks to Angels....

Posted by Saewod on May 11, 2012 at 12:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Interview, Excerpt and Giveaway!

Tell us a little about your latest release.

She Speaks to Angels is a YA Angel Thriller that takes place in Millennium High school in NY. Main character Ali Maney takes us through love, betrayal, a mystery and lots of adventure. This has a few different takes on the whole angel story. For one, there are angels and demons and rules both angels and demons have to follow. There is a mystery to solve and there is an interesting love/betrayal story.

How did you start your writing career?

I’ve always been a writer and I dabbled in self-publishing in 2008 and 2009 and in 2009 acquired an epublisher and was accepted by Whiskey Press (small press). At that time self publishing started taking off and my official career as an indie author began in 2010. So, I’ve been an indie author, into the whole promoting thing, gathering a team of people to work on my books for 2 years now.

Tell us about your favorite character from your books.

My favorite character is Kian and Ali, but Dameon is interesting too! Ali is just like many girls in high school, except she is thrown into an angel-demon world. Kian is so lovable and Dameon just has an edge that makes him cool.

Where do you dream of traveling to and why?

I love traveling. I’ve been to Thailand, Vietnam, Tibet, Cambodia and Japan briefly, China, Nepal, Korea, Spain, and all over America. I dream to travel to Egypt, Israel, South Africa on Safari, Somewhere in South America at least once, and Italy.

What –or who- curls your toes?

Not much. I’ve seen so much around the world and especially in Thailand, not much shocks me anymore.

Tell us about your next release.

After She Speaks to Angels, I plan on releasing a vampire and zombie set of novellas. Working on those. Then I may work on Don’t Speak, a psychic dystopian and then I’ll finish up all my series’.

What would we find on your bookshelf?

Paranormal mostly, some scifi and historical.

If you were a super hero, who would you be and why?

Wonder Woman. Cuz she is just cool.

Who is your favorite author?

Jane Austen and Charles Dickens have some great stories. I also like modern day Imogen Rose. I liked the book hunger Games, eve.

When in the day/night do you write? How long per day?

Usually in the day for most of the day...but sometimes at night. I’ve been on a writing hiatus though for about a few weeks.

When you want to indulge, what your favorite dessert?

Ice Cream cookies.

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

Time, energy.

Morning Person? Or Night Person?

Morning, but I like both.

Where do you find inspiration? Everywhere. Nature. Movies, People. Myself.

What is your typical writing day like?

Most of the day writing by the window in a room or on the porch or by the pool.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the book SHE SPEAKS TO ANGELS~

She Speaks to Angels
by Ami Blackwelder

"I tried not to sound hysterical, but it’s not every day you find out the paranormal is hunting you."

What if everything you believed was a lie?

A Suicide

Seventeen year old Allison Maney attends Millennium High School in Manhattan. Nothing out of the ordinary, unless you consider the occasional suicides at the school. At least that is what everyone is told, what everyone believes. But Tommy Bachelor was a popular football player; why would he jump off the roof of the school?

Dangerous Liaisons

When Dameon pays attention to Ali, she couldn't be more excited, because for the past three months he was all she could think about. But now that Dameon is finally pining for her affections, she is becoming more and more wrapped up in a clique of three who, as new transfers to the school, are proving to be trouble. But at least Dameon loves her, doesn't he?

Kian- a dangerous love interest she did not ask for.

Powers- belonging to an underworld she never knew existed.

A Clique- that could be friends or foes?

A Soul Purpose

The underworld of angels and demons have one thing on their mind: Earth.

Demons want to do what they want.

Angels want to protect humans from these rogue angels, AKA: Demons

For Allison Maney, everything is not exactly what it seems…

A Suspenseful Romance

Caught between Dameon and Kian, the suicide and the clique of three,

Ali won't know who to trust…or who to love.

Disappear
By Mary Martinez

It’s nice to be here at Book Nerd Revealed, thank you for having me. As most everyone has probably figured out, I’m on a virtual book tour, it runs through June 4th. I have no idea why I thought I could come up with enough interesting things to say to keep people coming back for an entire month. I’m trying though.

Yesterday I revealed how I came up with the idea for Disappear. Today I’m going to share how I researched the area where the Beckett stories are set, which is mostly in Manhattan, and Disappear has a bit in San Francisco. I love both cities, it’s hard to say which I like better.

Anyway, when I came up with the idea for the first book—before I’d even thought ‘series’—I wanted it to begin in Manhattan. I’d been there once with friends and had kept Metro schedules, maps, etc. So I thought I had all I needed and started my story.

First let me tell you that the first three chapters, no one liked I got more negative feedback on those than any I’ve had. So of course, they went out the window. After that, I began to determine the murder scene, where it would, etc. More negative feedback, the place I picked apparently couldn’t take place there, the road was too wide for it to be realistic.

Next time I visited New York, I made my husband, two friends and my mother in law walk the murder scene. And the feedback was spot on the money. So another change took place, and I found a new place around the corner so I wouldn’t have to change too much of the scene.

By this time I’d began the series and knew I’d need more information for the other books. So not only did I take about 1000 pictures (not an exaggeration) I went with my friends on a bus tour and took more through the neighborhoods.

Another thing I have started doing, not only with the Becketts, but for all my stories, is check out the real estate, and apartment listings. That way I have a visual and an address where the character lives. If I can’t visit it in person, I do so with Google earth—the next best thing.

One of my pet peeves when I read is when an author has not done their homework. I do try very hard to get things right in the setting, the last thing I want is to pull the reader from the story.

I’ll be visiting New York again next week and will be visiting Christine Beckett’s neighborhood (Quiet) to make sure everything is correct, that way if I find anything I still have time to change before it is published in November. I may visit Brooklyn to see about Innocent, in case I have to make any last minute corrections. However, I visited there the last time, so I’m crossing my fingers I have things correct, though most of it takes place in Manhattan.

When you’re reading a book, if the setting is incorrect, does it bother you?

Please visiting me tomorrow at Taste of Kiwi, and also there will be a review on Book Whisperer, for which I’m excited and nervous about.

Bewitching Tours will be doing something called the Rafflecopter(a Rafflecopter giveaway ). It keeps track of everyone who follows me on Twitter or ‘like’s my Facebook page, follows my blog, or anyone who subscribes to my newsletter will all have entries for the drawing that will take place at the end of the tour on June 4th. There will be four winners and they will have their choice of a download or print book of any of my books.

Thank you for hosting me today!

Welcome Author Angela Aaron!

Welcome Angela Aaron, author of Pleasure Island and her upcoming release The Fire of Beltane.

It's an amazing pleasure to have her on my blog today!

Hi Saewod

Thanks for inviting me to introduce my newest Erotic Romance, The Fire of Beltane.

Imagine this: It is 6:30 a.m. on a freezing February morning. The air is biting crisp and the sky is clear. It is "nose-hair-sticking" cold. There isn't another soul around as I pull into the parking lot of work. I have no desire to get out of my warm car and instead decide to finish my coffee and mumble about the winter doldrums. I look to my left and there is the biggest, brightest full moon I've ever seen and it captivates my full attention. Being the hopeless romantic I am, found myself wondering how much magic that moon really has, and wouldn't it be grand if I walked inside the building and stepped into an adventure with a handsome alpha hero. Well, the whimsical thought came and went and I eventually braved the cold and headed into work. As I entered the building the thought came to me that I should write down what I was just thinking and make a story out of the experience. That's how The Fire of Beltane was born.

I spent the next few months observing and jotting down notes and ideas that kept flooding my brain. I developed my characters from watching the people around me. My heroine, Aislinn (pronounced Ashlynn) is the combination of 3 different people and my Hero Aedan, on the other hand is pure made-up alpha fantasy. I love to write strong but flawed and terribly perfect heros because that is what I like to read. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The Fire of Beltane is a story full of sizzling romance, magic and mystery; where the impossible becomes possible. It's a story where dreams come true…literally.

It is a feel good story at its barest! The love scenes are hot-hot-hot, but it can be no other way for Aedan and Aislinn.

And yes…I did write the "moon" scene into the story.

Here is a little tease:

The Fire of Beltane
Angela Aaron

When Aedan is denied his soul mate that fateful Beltane night, he is given the gift of immortality, permitting him to wait for her prophesized return. Reunited after eleven-hundred years, he is disheartened to learn his true love holds no memory of him.

Wishing for a distraction from the winter doldrums, Aislinn never expected to be caught up in a whirlwind of magic and danger with a man she has spent her whole life dreaming about. What he asks of her tests the very reality she holds dear.

Now, as Beltane approaches, and with time running out, Aedan and Aislinn must reach Ireland to pledge their love to one another. But in order to live out their destinies, they must overcome an ancient foe determined to see an end to their fated love.

Eleven hundred years he waited for her. He could lose her in a single moment.

The Fire of Beltane will be available April 30th from Noble Romance Publishing, nobleromance.com (appropriately, Beltane eve.)

Author Bio:

Angela Aaron's love affair with writing began at nine years old when inspired by the "will they ever be together" relationship between Candy and Jeremy on "Here Comes The Brides." She filled notebook after notebook of "happily-ever-afters" for these characters. She hasn't stopped writing since. Her true love has always been romance and erotic romance with lots of sizzling moments between her characters and a happily ever after ending.

Angie is from the Midwest. She is a mother, works full time, and includes her rescued Bouviers and Poodle as part of the family. Angie is extremely down to earth, and hates phony people. Angie has to be outdoors as much as possible and finds her inspiration from the lakes and forests which surround her. She hates winter, loves summer and sun. She loves the moon and night time. She is an "autumn." She loves chocolate, a good romance and bag pipe music. She is completely at home in the water. She loves fantasy and believes in magic.

I shed my bird form in favour of a centaur....

Posted by Saewod on April 23, 2012 at 12:00 AM Comments comments (0)

“I flew/hopped my way down to the beach. Upon reaching the shore, I shed my bird form in favour of a centaur then took off running, my hooves splashing in the angry grey surf.” This isn’t a line from any book. This is a dream I had when I was about six or seven.

I have been fascinated with shape-shifters for a very long time. I remember when Star Trek: Deep Space 9 came out and Otto, the Changeling, was on there. I remember the stories of the Swan Princess, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and even when playing World of Warcraft my main character for about six years was a shape-shifting Night Elf Druid. I have been writing about these shape-shifters and changelings since I was in Grade 7, drawn to write about the fantastical even then. When the chance came up to write for Bandit Creek, my mind automatically went there.

I had recently read a few books on skin-walkers (Patricia Briggs and Kelley Armstrong), plus in prior researching of Native American legends, these creatures do pop up a bit. The problem with the legends is that all the yee naaldlooshii, or skin-walkers, are actually evil witches that use blood and bone magic to get their way, and eventually take on the pelt of an animal which they use to transform. This gave me a great “bad guy” of course, but how would a regular human stop this evil force? This is how Kai and his family were born. Kai Hunter is a born skin-walker, along with most of his family, and their task in the past was to protect the tribes from any bad yee naaldlooshii, or other supernatural evils.

Of course an extraordinary hero needs an extraordinary heroine. The heroine had to love nature and animals as much as half-animal Kai, and it had honestly been a long time since I had read about dryads (Piers Anthony I think) so Hazel popped onto the page. Oh, and as much as I can’t keep the supernatural out of my writing, I can’t keep dry humor and puns out either.

“So, if Hazel’s a tree and you’re a dog, does that mean you’re going to go mark your territory now?”

Now as much as there are shape-shifters in my writing, there are others in real life. You know who they are, of course. The true two-faces, Dr. Jekylls and Mr. Hydes. There are also chameleons that change their personalities depending on situations or who they are with. Some of us have developed “multiple personalities” on purpose, such as pen names, either as a way to avoid ridicule or just to differentiate between different styles of writing. We are all changelings to a degree, in fact if we didn’t adapt to the world around us, we probably wouldn’t survive very well in our world.

Skin Deep
By Shanna Gekko

Book Blurb

Kai knows trouble has found him when a fiery pint-sized female shows up at his door, bringing news of gruesome animal sacrifices in the woods around Bandit Creek. She also brings a teasing scent that draws his attention and sends every protective instinct screaming for him to protect his mate.

Hazel is determined to stop the monster she’s been following for miles and she won’t let anything distract her from her mission. She teams up with Kai, but vows to keep a firm “no-touch” policy where the handsome Native is concerned. Her resolve doesn’t last long as the two are drawn together like lodestones, their every touch igniting a passion neither has faced before.

Only, the trail of ritual sacrifices points to a greater threat than either first realized. They are about to face Kai’s enemy ancestor, a yee naaldlooshii—skinwalker—who will stop at nothing to destroy everything around him.

Author Bio:

Shanna Gekko currently juggles writing with herding kids and pets, and a full-time job, among other commitments, and she truly doesn’t know how she does it. While she will read practically anything, her writing has strayed to the fantastic since she was in Grade 7. You can read some of her musings at www.talesfromtheashes.blogspot.com

NYPD Police Chief Richard Long promises no harm will come to the chef when she is apprehended. Weeds Are Flowers Too...

Guest Blog by Roxy Boroughs

“Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them.”
— A. A. Milne

Inferiority, alienation – we all suffer from it. Even the most secure people get a twinge from time to time.

My feelings of being different started in grade school. I was in and out of the hospital from the time I was 2 until I was 12. So I was always behind, always playing catch-up.

Teachers probably don’t do this anymore but, back in the day, one particular instructor put us into groups, rearranging our desks after each important test. The kids with the top marks would be the Roses. Next highest, would be the Lilacs. Then came the Daffodils, and on down through the list. The subsequent flowers were not as pretty, not as fragrant. Until you got to the students with the lowest marks – the Dandelions.

That was my group. And believe me, even at that time, I realized dandelions were weeds. Pests.

I found myself with five other kids – children who clearly had learning disabilities, some severe. I struggled along with them. And didn’t receive a whole lot of help from that particular teacher. Because, for some reason, we Dandelions were positioned at the back of the class. This made no sense to me. Wouldn’t you put the kids who needed help up front? Close to the teacher? No, we were the furthest away. Isolated.

Then one day, there was a big math test, which was hardly my best subject. When our papers were returned, I saw that I’d scored high. I didn’t realize how high until the teacher started moving desks around, and this Dandelion suddenly went from a weed to a Rose. I remember the surprise on the teacher’s face and him looking at me curiously, like I was a new unidentified species. I was still alienated, just in another way.

As it turned out, I didn’t stay with the Roses. I think the next time we had a quiz I slipped down to a Lilac. But I hovered around the more beautiful and fragrant flowers for the rest of my elementary school days. Still, that feeling of being inferior, different, has never left me. I think that’s what made me a writer, and compels me to tell stories about people who feel isolated, disenfranchised.

In the case of A STRANGER’S KISS my hero, Sam, is isolated by grief. A once successful lawyer, he’s devastated by the murder of his son. Hoping to gain closure, he traces the killer's roots to Bandit Creek, Montana. There, he finds Amy Tesher, a high school dropout. Lies are Amy's camouflage, all fabricated to escape the secrets of her past and protect her 11-year-old child, Renee, who is able to communicate with Sam's ghostly son. And the serial killer is hot on their trail.

I enjoyed writing this story and watching Sam and Amy, two lonely people who’d been through so much pain and rebuke, find reward in each other and fall in love. I hope, when you read the novella, it’ll come up smelling like a Rose.

PRAISE FOR “A STRANGER’S KISS”, part of the Bandit Creek Books series. Everything happens in Bandit Creek. http://banditcreekbooks.com

A Stranger’s Kiss
By Roxy Burroughs

BLURB:

SAM HUTCHINSON was once motivated by power and money. But after his son's murder, he alternates between losing himself in a bottle of scotch and researching James Ryan Morley, the still-at-large killer of the boy Sam never had time for in life. Broken and desperate, Sam traces Morley’s roots to Bandit Creek, Montana and an addict who once sheltered him.

There, against a serene mountain backdrop, he finds the woman’s resourceful daughter, AMY TESHER, and her eleven-year-old child, Renee. Lies are Amy’s camouflage—her age, her name, even the identity of her child’s father—all fabricated to escape the secrets of her past.

Unaware of Sam’s real mission, she takes him into her boarding house. Just as Morley returns to take possession of Amy...and her daughter.

Hunter Moon
By Cait Lavender

Bawling cattle tore Shelby Flint from her bed. With lawyer fees to pay in her struggle to keep her ranch from the clutches of her greedy cousins, she couldn’t afford the loss of even one calf. When she sees a large wolf circling her cows, she aims and fires. While the wolf escapes, Shelby can’t seem to get away from her troubles when a marijuana grower sets up shop on her land, sabotaging her property and eventually coming after her.

Adding to that, a handsome game warden is poking his nose into her business and working his way underneath her skin. Shelby will have to fight harder than she ever fought before to keep from losing her heart and everything she ever loved.

Shelby Flint is a self-sufficient cowgirl and cattle rancher, but when a wolf goes after her calves, a man is murdered on her land and someone is sabotaging her property she can’t do it by herself any longer. In walks a handsome game warden, poking his nose in her business and working her way under her skin. Shelby will have to fight harder than she ever has before to keep from losing her heart and everything she ever loved.

Excerpt:

“Hey, have you heard anything about—wait, what? The fuzz is after me?” I sifted through my recent actions, but couldn’t remember doing anything illegal that would put a cop on my tail. “Wait, you’re not talking about Tyler, are you?”

One of her husband’s favorite pastimes was making me pull over without cause. I was always tempted to pull a stunt like I was on Cops and lead him in a high speed pursuit. But since I’d gotten out of a few speeding tickets by dropping his name, I guess it was a wash.

“What, Tyler? No, I wish he was this hot.” She leered. “The game warden stopped by about five minutes ago asking all about the girl who lives on the Flint ranch.” She waggled her eyebrows at me.

It was Jesse’s mission in life to set me up with a man. It was the bane of her existence that I’d sworn off cowboys. A cowboy hadn’t worked out too well for my mom, and that was pretty much all there was around Raymond. It was probably the only lesson I’d learned from my mother.

“I have to say, Matt Albert wasn’t a fan of Mr. Warden asking about you. Gave me one scary glare when I told the hottie where you live.”

“Oh geez. You haven’t told Matt I’d date him again did you? The guy’s dumber than a box of rocks!”

The Albert clan was huge in Raymond. Half the population was related in some form or another, and Matt had his eyes on me since grade school. I’d always chalked up his infatuation with me to the fact we weren’t related. Kissing cousins were so Alabama.

Matt liked to get drunk at the rodeo and pick fights. The one date I had gone with him I ended up with four glasses of Coors on my shirt and a bruise on my cheek where the other guy had elbowed me to get at Matt. That had been four years ago. He was either tenacious to the extreme or stupid, and I leaned toward the latter.

“Of course not. Especially if you’ve got Hunky McWarden in the wings!” I rolled my eyes at Jesse’s outrageous nicknames. It was never a good sign when she waxed poetic.

“Why do you keep saying that? I thought the game warden was an octogenarian?”

“Yeah, that was Bill Freedman, and he retired last month. Officer Hotstuff must be his replacement. Lucky for us! Lord knows we need an infusion of new blood around here.”

While that was certainly true, I wasn’t in the mood to play ‘The Dating Game’ with Jesse. “Oh quit it. I’d better get home if there’s a popo waiting for me. Wish me luck!”

I walked back to my truck and looked down at Reggie.

“Sorry, I forgot your hot dog. I guess I owe you one.”

He hopped in the back, forgiving as always and off we went. I wondered why the warden would be looking for me. I hadn’t hunted or fished in years, not since grandpa’s health went downhill. I hoped one of my cows didn’t get out. That could be a nightmare if it ruined property or someone hit it with a car. Great, that’s all I needed right now.

I saw the warden’s forest green Silverado when I pulled in, but no sign of the warden himself anywhere. I lowered the tailgate of the Blazer to let Reggie down and he took off toward the barn. I trusted his instincts and followed him and found an image I could use to warm the lonely, cold nights. On the trailer of alfalfa was a 6’4’ Adonis. The man, or god, who I assumed was the warden, had his shirt off while he was unloading hay. His fantastic shoulders were bare and rippling as he unloaded bale after bale of hay. His biceps flexed as he squatted to pick up another and bless him, I had a front row seat to his fantastic rear.

The warden couldn’t have been any older than late twenties or early thirties, and his golden skin just added to the Greek god effect he had going. Something stirred in me while I watched him work, something I had never felt before. Pure unadulterated lust. I wanted that man more than anyone in my whole life.

Irritated with my surging libido, I tamped down my unwelcome feelings as much as I could. I definitely didn’t need that kind of complication in my life right now. He bent over and picked up another bale and I had to bite the inside of my lip to keep from moaning. No man should look that delicious. I nodded my head in agreement with myself and continued to gawk. His shoulders were nearly twice as wide as mine, and his broad chest narrowed to flat, rippling abs and a trim waist.

In the ten minutes I supposed he’d been there he had almost the whole trailer unloaded, and it didn’t even look like he’d broken a sweat. If I’d unloaded that much I would have been a puddle of exhausted goo. I stood there, staring at all his assets, for a few minutes longer before I climbed on the trailer and started helping.

When I came up behind him, he stopped working and stared at me. His nostrils flared wide, but he didn’t seem surprised at my arrival. Unnerved a bit by his piercing gaze, I picked up a bale. He just shrugged and resumed unloading, maintaining a silence the whole time we worked. In between bales he brushed his dark brown hair off his forehead to reveal two eyes the brilliant blue of sapphires.

He looked at me for a moment, and then unloaded the last bale of alfalfa. I hopped off the trailer, suddenly needing distance from his cobalt stare. Without the hay bales to occupy my hands, they were itching to touch the ripples of all six of his abs. I stared at the ground, shifting from foot to foot.

“Thanks. I really appreciate the help. If I was by myself, this would have taken hours.” I handed him his uniform shirt that was hanging off the side mirror of my truck and glanced at the name tag. “Officer Newcomb.”

“It’s warden Newcomb, but you can call me Cash.” He put his uniform back on and I couldn’t help feeling a sense of loss. The fabric covered a spectacular chest with just a judicial smattering of curly brown hair that drew together in a fuzzy line that lead south. Talk about a happy trail.
